每个学术研究者必须经历的一道关卡，就是Research Proposal的写作。它大致对应中文里的“开题报告”、“选题报告”、“研究报告”，是一项研究开始之前的提纲、规划和陈述；既是为了帮助自己梳理文 献、整理思路、廓清方向，也常常是写给相关他人的说明：研究动机和意义何在？可能有何成果？为什么它值得你的资助/认可/支持/批准？不知道是否可以说， 好的proposal是研究成功的一半。但实际而功利的说，如果你的proposal很烂，可能根本就不会有开始研究的机会。

Advice for Students: 10 Steps Toward Better Research

A little while back, I wrote about ways for students to add a little extra “kick” to their research papers. Those strategies were meant for students who had already mastered the basics of performing research, not students just getting started doing research and writing papers. As with writing, though, research skills are rarely taught very clearly — professors assume students know or can figure out how to do good research, or at best turn their students over to a librarian for a tour of the library’s facilities and resources. Is it any wonder that so many university students rely on Wikipedia as the first and last stop in their research itinerary?

To help students get up to speed on basic research skills, here’s 10 tips to help you find, organize, and use the information you need to put together a decent research paper.

一个小小技巧：XP系统中，要想知道今天是星期几还必须双击打开时钟程序才行，而简单的将鼠标悬停在时钟上面是无法看到的。其实，XP是支持这种星期显示的，而且只需要进行一下简单的设置便能实现。
　　1.点击“开始”菜单→“设置→控制面板”，找到并双击“区域与语言选项”图标
　　2.然后，在弹出的设置窗口中点击“区域选项”标签→“自定义”按钮
　　3.接着，点击“自定义区域选项”窗口中的“日期”标签，在最下面的“长日期格式”后面加上字母“dddd“。
　　4.最后，点击“确定”按钮退回到控制面板。此时再将鼠标悬停到时钟上时，您便会惊喜得发现，此时的系统时钟已经可以提示当天的星期了。

早就想对blog优化一下，尤其是在不断的添加插件之后，各项加载都在增加，包括css也在不断增长，十分头痛。从Nicky那看到在线网页分析工具，它可以帮助你查看页面中的HTML、JS、CSS代码和图片各自的大小，再计算出不同的带宽下的加载速度，最后给出一个建议，提示你哪部分该优化了。于是就去试了一下，我的“Congratulations”有点偏少了。
于是通过Nicky提到的一篇优化CSS的文章进行了优化，可是不知什么原因，开始调试没问题，可后来就怎么也没法调用style.css.php,只好换了几个compress css,并且自己也通过提示改了一些设置和代码。
这是 codeandcoffee的 JavaScript Compression tool, 的结果：Old Size: 6774 bytes  New Size: 5371 bytes  Ratio: 79.3%
最后用的是the exact little script 压缩到了48**bytes。

WHAT IS TIME DOMAIN REFLECTOMETRY?

HISTORY
As early as 1939, geologists and others recognized a relationship between the dielectric properties of soil, rock and other materials, and their moisture content.
